Keep your broadheads sharp and your shot placement small. As long as you are practicing routinely with what you buy, you will have no problem taking game.

I'd recommend heading to a bow shop and trying a few bows. Chances are, they will give you some advice on shooting form and other tips. I'd recommend buying a bow from them, too, however sometimes the budget doesn't allow it... In that case, you can head down to Cabela's and buy a reasonable package (RTH as someone mentioned) and become just as effective and lethal.
