best way to explain the marmish is that you don't reel or fight a fish on it...you hand line it. I hand line more perch unless it is cold. That way my depth is always the same and you don't risk getting weeded.

The tip on the marmish and the shortness of the rod let's you apply a different action to the hook and the tip is way more sensitive than an ultra light and even the spring on my panfish popper.

I have hooked 10 lb rainbows...and hand lined it no problem.
