Sure domestication of elk occurs- from Websters:
domesticate 2.a) to tame (wild animals) and breed for the many purposes of man.
From Wikipedia: Domestication (from Latin domesticus) is the process where by a population of animals or plants is changed at the genetic level
through a process of selection, in order to accentuate traits that benefit humans.
I've been on elk farms and they get out and many are habituated.
