I believe a wise member recently suggested that a poster have his lawyer call the Chief Firearms Officer to "expedite things". As I recall things were fixed in a few days.
Having said that, you don't need a PAL to hunt with a firearm. You just need someone with a PAL right there with you. What "right there" looks like when you are a couple miles off the road is open to officer interpretation.
