30yards out from the island has produced best for me.the perch get a move on when a brood fish shows up. fish worm 2-3'down tends to get the brooders.a good way to tell if there is a brooder around, if the perch chase your bait up off the bottom,no brooder. if the perch are scarce or wont come up off bottom good chance a brooder is near bye.
