You are right, not cheap. 6k usd actually over 8k cad... I would have a tough time spending that on a fishing trip but its one of your only options to fish up there. Other top lakes aren't cheap either other then the few you can pretty much drive to.

Yes with tips and airfare and hotels 8k is a little out of my reach ,should have fished there when I worked at Tree river
