Just a note on wireworms. When fishing for whites in October on open water the scuds are immature and not fully grown so a wireworm hook should be smaller with size 10 or 12 or even as small as size 16. As the winter progresses the scuds grow to full size so a woreworm can be made on a bigger hook. size 8 or 6.

This is a pigeon lake scud. Hyalella azteca. 3 to 8 mm (1/16" to 5/16") when grown. Imitate it.
