There used to be sneakers hanging in the trees at the Chaba ford that you could use. We would just strip down to our undies, and take a pair of sneakers. The only problem with the Chaba crossing is that it is so wide, you will gave no feeling in your legs before you reach the other side. I personally, would not try the trip during high water.
