I gave up on "asphalt" shingles because I found out they are made from paper. And the so-called 25 year shingles that were on my roof only lasted 8 years before they started to disintegrate. I have a beautiful steel roof that will out live me and my children. I should have done steel when I built my house in the first place.
Expensive....yes! My house, garage, and shed was $39k. (But to be fair, there is a lot of square footage.)
