If you were sent a "free" auger by Jiffy, which is NOT the normal protocol and/or gratuity offered to other customers, then, in fact, and by definition, you were "sponsored".

The fact that you wrote a glowing article about this auger, which is precisely what Jiffy intended, when offering you this gratuity, clearly indicates a reciprocal agreement with an implied obligation. They used you as a tool and you happily obliged.

As far as "covid challenges" - any business who develops and launches a new product without the care to follow basic new product launch protocols (like testing, and other quality/supply/aftermarket support/distribution controls will inevitable fail. I find "covid" is a poor excuse for basic prudent business practices designed to protect liability and reputation.
