40-45 lbs. I’d be using a 2 blade head- pick anyone you want.
Or a longer profile 3blade like a wensel woodsman. 3 blades are nice for bears as they leak a bit more. In either case give the head a “tanto tip” as long needle tips have the nasty habit of bending over when they hit ribs etc. And get it nice and sharp. Then study the anatomy with him to make sure he understands where to put the arrow. Sounds like a great father son project.
