I've hunted for 15 years without a sling. I always carry the rifle while walking to still hunt and much prefer that. A nula should be on my list!
I do feel the 6.5creedmoor is the next .308 as well. It is being chambered everywhere by all rifle manufacturers. People like that it closely matches a .300 win mag as far as drop and wind. With bullet advancements the penetration is quite amazing.
