Have used a 308 lever action savage for the last 40 years. Shot at least 30 moose most one shot kills 5 elk 3 deer dont like deer meat. When we had to walk it was important that the rifle be light in weight. I do not know if it shoots a close group as always shoot off hand. Practise with a paper plate between 100 and 200 yards if you can hit it 9 times out of 10 that is good. If 100 yards or more try for a lung shot even at 200 yards the bulet will go through both lungs and be lodged next to the hide on the far side. Now only shoot the smale ones as the meat is better.
