Yes and no.

The minimum we must do is take the time to understand the BDC reticles, confirm and validate the actual subtension and bullet drop (and confirm calcoolator input data) in the field, and shoot at the extended ranges to confirm our maximum effective range. For some that is a given, for others that is too complicated. All that work...

On the other side, I would wager the majority of consumers of the LR goodies want products that are advertised to make them LR super heroes by simply entering a bunch of numbers into a calcoolator, subtend the scope to a given number or dial a turret, and bang away at animals. Instant gratification, but its not that simple....

Then there is the wind, which can complicate things, I suppose...
