Thanks for all of the advice! My second Foodsaver machine was losing it's 'suck' after only a couple of years, so based on my needs, and consensus opinion here, I just bought the Cabela's Commercial 12" (on sale).
Thanks to wide range of people who generously provide their experiences into this forum - my salmon, halibut, deer, moose and sundry items should be well taken care of!
