It makes no difference to me, but Hanwags really are an excellent boot, and as mentioned that is a sole issue (third party). The important thing is that the boots are comfortable and fit well, and I am guessing they do because that is one reason Hanwags are so well reviewed. Retailer should take care of you. I personally like the Hanwag alaskan wide model.
Edit: I read your first post again. Yes old stock, discontinued model apparently, retailer is dropping the ball here.
