We usually end up going to Maui every other year. There are no AI’s in Hawaii like you see in Mexico, Jamaica, etc.. We budget about $6000-$7000 for 2 of us for about 2 weeks. Get an AirBnB (or VRBO), that way they can at least cook breakfast (or a bunch of meals). Groceries are easy (Costco, Safeway). A rental car is a must.
Another option is an island cruise. My folks did that a few years ago. Get a flight to Hawaii and then do the cruise. You sail at night and wake up at a new island everyday. They would have a rental car booked at each port. Jump in the car and check out the island. No idea on cost though.
