As others have already stated no matter what shape or form of boat if it has a motor, gas or electric then you must have a pleasure craft operators license. This includes inflatable pontoons, kayaks, tinners, canoes etc.

If your boat has a 10 HP or larger motor then the boat requires a pleasure craft license. This is a completely different license that is more akin to a license plate(you get paperwork and have to put stickers on boat). If you are in such a situation just do it, it is free an easy...
