I too am a fan of the Arrow and proud of the Canadians that designed and built it.

One thing a lot of armature aviation buffs forget is that the Arrow was a purpose built aircraft, an interceptor. It wasn't a fighter, it wasn't an attack aircraft and it wasn't designed as a bomber. It was purpose built to intercept Russian bombers. Period. With the advent of ICBM's it was out of date before it went into final production.

Sad though we didn't channel all that design talent into the manufacture of a fighter or bomber etc instead of loosing the majority of it to the US and NASA in particular. Today every aircraft our air force needs has to come from another country, usually the US. Under Liberal leadership, starting with Trudeau the Elder, Canada is sadly approaching third world status, no longer self sufficient, but buying the majority of our goods from offshore. Trump doesn't have many good ideas, but bringing the jobs and pride back home is a great idea!
