Actually reminded me that I have a mushroom book.
"Mushrooms Of The Boreal Forest"
I dug it out, blew off the dust and low and behold one of the 5 species they show as safe for a beginner mushroomer is Pleurotus ostreatus aka oyster mushrooms.
