waterfowl any day of the week - I've turned down some amazing deer hunts for a shot in the dark at geese in a damp field, cold field. For me, as a kid, I grew up hunting waterfowl more than deer as it was something I could tag along and do relatively easy as a youngster with my dad. I have done the deer hunting with my dad, and on my own, but to me hunting is about family and friends and enjoying the outdoors. I can sit and talk with friends between birds, and still limit out at the end of a day whereas with deer you need to be pretty quiet.

Further to all of this, my dad died when I was 11, just before my 12th birthday when I could start carrying a gun and shooting birds with him so I have that connection with my old man when I'm out there on the shore of a duck pond or sitting in a farmers field. September 1st cannot come fast enough.

I took my love for the sport one step further and have a 7 month old lab that will be ready to go this fall to hunt.
