Folks must have lived on the edge in my time.
My Speer Reloading manual lists the following load:
140gr Speer 51gr 4831 2631fps 18" barrel
Their test rifle was a Swedish mauser.
I've found that 47gr 4831 is max for my rifle
and hunting loads are just fine at 46gr.
