To each their own I guess. Everyone has their preference and no doubt a valid reason for it.
The biggest problem I ever had was with my kids when they were young (5-6) and not paying attention and stepping into the hole. Have to admit size wouldn’t have mattered other than them filling their boot vs. wet to their knee. Only happened once to each kid. They have sure watched where they step ever since.
