Personally, at the velocities you are talking about I've always found mechanically locked bullets, like Corelocts or Interlocks, to perform well. But since you specified that this load will be specifically for whitetail, I don't think its necessary to even bother with that. A good old fashioned softpoint will give you pretty much ideal performance on deer.
