My 30/06 hunting load is a 150gn SST bullet at 2960fps. It has killed deer, moose and elk without problems. Some of them dropped so fast, I thought I missed. Some of them required a second shot. The elk I shoot last year, was shot from behind at +/-150m and required a second shot. I found the core on the spine, totally separated from the cup.
I think SST is a good hunting bullet and more than adequate for your purpose.
