I tend to agree with this...I also have a side mounted stove pipe exit and it has been a pain to use for the most part.....Before I use my tent again I am going to get a tent stove jack put into the roof so I can just go straight up with the stove pipe....A local canvas and awning place quoted me about $200 to do it.
