Default New Load For 300 Win Mag

My old loads for my 2 x 300 Win mags were 73 grs IMR 4831 initially but I got much better velocity with RL-22 ( 75.00) grs . Anyways the subject of Powder sensitivity came up and we shot a few and I have to agree, i lost a fair bit of velocity when the cold temps popped up. I usually work the loads in the summer and dont actually hunt until November with the rifle, (archery in t he early season) Shoot 180 grain accubonds with great results but seeing the velocity variations in RL-22 what powder should prove to be the most stable?? Leaning towards H1000?? Thoughts?

H-4831 is a good option

H1000 is a great choice for the 300 win mag.
In one of my 300's I shoot a 215 Berger H-1000 and a federal 215 primer. Awesome load, that is in a custom gun.

My other 300 I shoot a 180 gr hornady with r22. It is ok but as you say the r22 is not very temperature stable. That be is a factory Winchester model 70

Default H1000/Barnes TSX

My brother used 79.5grs of H1000 with a 180gr Barnes TSX
It was compressed due to the bullet.
Hogdon data shows 81.0C with Speer Mag Tip and 79.4C with Nolser E-Tip.

We were able to up a few grains as these loads were shot from a TC Encore and COA length wasn't a concern with magazine length.

Never tried H1000 but love the RL22 in mine with 180 ABs. Been the load for me since 2005. I was going to try some WS 780 powder. It's what Winchester uses in their factory ammo in the 180gr ABs.
