Default marcum lx-5 transducer ?

Just bought a new 2010-11 Marcum lx-5. I noticed there are air bubbles or blotches in the epoxy coating under the ducer. Does anyone know if this is normal or has the same issue? It seems to work fine, but i am just worried it's not working at its full potential.

thanks.

I had the same concern when i got mine, no air bubbles or blotches but it looked rougher than what i expected compared to the transducer on my boat. dont have anyone elses to compare it to but it works awesome. I just checked mine out again and it actually looks smoother, might be some protective coating that washes off in water?

JSMPP, i know they started putting epoxy coating on the bottom of the new lx-5 ducer's to prevent it from "sticking to ice." I contacted costumer service last week, but i haven't received a reply... I heard some people's units have smooth ducer's and some have blotchy one's.

use the smallest hook you have or a ant swivel......do you detect it? does it trace in fast movements? place two small lures 1 inch apart do you show separation? if you answer yes to all of the above you should be good to go
