Yes, it's well worth a second watch, Bigwoodsman ... enjoy. 👍

It's sad to see how little traction the anniversary of D Day gets here on the AO these days.
Back in the day, there would have been three or four threads about it ... but not anymore.

Great video -- thanks for the link Brought some moisture to the eyes

A bit of irony --- tried to post this to FB and the message came back that this was a news link and due to Canadian Government legislation it could not be posted

D-Day, June 6, 1944.
14,000 Canadian soldiers landed on Juno Beach.
381 sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
NEVER FORGET.
Thank you.

Considering that the probable min age for someone to have been on those beaches is about 96-97 yrs old, that says a lot, another 5 yrs, they will probably all be gone. Watched some of the Airborne jumps yesterday, of course the Cdn plane's pilot had some issue with "flying hours", so they didn't get to jump yesterday, according to a British news source at the drop site. Saw Macron presenting a medal to a lady that worked in the Overlord planning office in Britain. Seeing blurred images on vids on Google now, when watching a doc about Iwo, the publishers say can't show wounded or dead in vids, from pics/vids that have been around in public, for 75yrs or better.
Watched The Longest Day and Saving Private Ryan, as usual, for this time of year. The scene of Pluskat looking out the window of the blockhouse he was in, and seeing the ships appearing out of the mist, still gets me.

Thanks for the link, Selkirk. It’s a good watch.

I could be wrong, but I'm not aware of any AO members here who are/were WWII Veterans, but there may have been one or two.

In the past on the AO, it was their sons (and daughters) who kept their remembrances alive, but sadly even that now has faded to a small flicker.

O & O,

Selkirk
