Huge water main break in Calgary which happened on Wednesday evening. Resulting in boil water advisory for community of Bowness. State of emergency declared for rest of the City of Calgary till water main rupture repaired. This is an evolving story.

Nah, the mains in Bowness are ancient & rupture dozens of times per year. This time it just happened to be a main line which sucks. Hopefully the boil-advisory doesn't last as long as it did in Cochrane last year.

Why would the City ban watering gardens "by any means"?
So I have invested time and money to save rain water in barrels, now I can't use it??? Crazy. If a drought happens that causes a level 4 water restriction I can't use the water I saved?
Maybe there is something to this that I'm not seeing, but why even promote water barrels if you are going to tell people they can't use the water, when they need it most?

I would just sit quietly if I were you unless you want all your neighbours to come and start taking showers from your rain barrels….

A few months back, gonchi or whatever her real name is was warning about severe water restrictions this year because of the drought. Then it rained and rained and rained. She wants this, remember her first day as mayor she wanted to tax us a billion dollars for the climate emergency, she is simply a WEF install.

Simple answer, aging infrastructure, that line would be many decades old.

So you believe that she engineered the failure of the water main?

Just me being an old cynic but if you spend a Billion on an arena, 2 billion on toy train, 1 billion on new BMO centre, untold billions on Stampede park up grade, a big pile on the Olympic plaza, there is not a lot left to upgrade infrastructure before it breaks!
Also I assume with the recent increase in population (1.7 MM ? now) and you don't spend money on a new water, sewer plants, road improvements etc. there are more billions in spending coming

No way she is smart enough to do this
BUT
As the mayor she wears all the success and failures of city hall. Perhaps instead of building a Green Line to nowhere or blanket rezoning at the behest of her favorite land developers or cuddling up to Trudeau for the latest socialist tripe some of my excessive property taxes could go to infrastructure upgrades and replacement
But that would be a low priority for this brain trust.
Sure am glad we declared that climate emergency on day 1...the definition of virtue signaling

Maybe you should ask the city.
Maybe they mean don't water even with a watering can if you use city water.

Just for the record I believe that water main was installed in late 70's, not exactly 'Old Infrastructure'.

Sorry you misread the signs.
God meant to something good to happen with you peeing and the young ladies.
You missed your chance.
I thought old guys had this figured out.

Idk.. 50 years seems old to me.. although they are clay pipelines.
I think what most people are talking about re:severe drought, is why are the dams wide open and empty? If there's a "forecasted drought" wouldn't you hold back a significant amt for when it hits?. especially with the amount of rain we just had? Now I know that "spring runoff" is still happening in the mtns, but the logic is lost on me.

Exactly this... I just listened to an interview she just did turning this into a political football (of course ) talking about how "if we only had a better relationship with the Federal government" and "we have a 300million dollar shortfall every year because of this and if we don't want increased taxes we need to be friendlier to the Feds" etc...
Feds feds feds feds... If only we were libs they would give us more dollars is the message. Never mind the wasted millions and billions on the crap that looks great and fuzzy for votes like bike lanes and stadiums and woke events etc etc while ignoring the boring stuff nobody will pay attention too if we spend it there.
We need new leadership in this city Uggggh
