I like it!

I have an '85 that the roof came off right to the windshield, and an '87. I restored the '85 sold the other one, then the '85 as well.

Very nice K5. They are getting very hard to find in that condition. I had a chance at a diesel fullsize Jimmy for 3k, which included a bunch of spare parts and an aftermarket canvas top. I regret not making a move on that one.

I used to have a K5 with a 6.2L diesel / 5 speed manual transmission I put in (also had the old girl turbocharged and had turned the IP up a bit). I had it lifted 4" with 1 ton axles and 37" boggers. That was a wicked truck for offroading in! I fixed up most of the rust, but the body was getting a little beat up after I flopped it once and kind of lost interest in taking care of the body.

I now have a 95 Chevy Tahoe 2-dr with a factory 6.5L diesel / 4L80e combo. I burned the IFS out of it and installed a set of 1 ton axles on a 7" lift running 37" Kevlar MTRs. Very nice truck, but I am much nicer to it than I was with the K5. I am going to be taking the 6.5L out of it pretty soon and will be replacing it with an LB7 Duramax / ZF6 6 speed manual transmission.

Must be a typo, Ken. The full roof stopped in 1975, by edict. Too many people falling out during rollovers. In 1976, the factory installed an internal rollbar at the roof join. The early models are rare, and much sought after by collecters. I once had a '74 that I drove home, vacuumed and washed then sold it the next day for 5X the money I paid. Kept the soft top.

My first was a '76 that I traded straight across for a '58 Apache in 1978. That half ton had a 350hp 350ci and kitted auto. transmission. It would go like stink but it was hard to steer and stop. Show truck, frame off restoration done by me, in an era when 'after market' parts meant going from yard to yard, looking. And looking.

I currently own an '82 in mint condition (hasn't turned a wheel in 16 years) that my wife bought new. I changed out the hubs and transfer case and removed the 6.2 litre smoke bomb. It is black on black on black with a fabric interior. This truck is my eighth such unit and when I finally get an engine in it, it will be the envy of the neighborhood.

I had a 1980 with a 350 auto in it and at first I loved it until I started having problems with it.Had to replace.....

-cam shaft
-transfer case
-transmission
-front hubs
-plus u-joints on the back shaft every 10,00km.

After three years I got rid of it and it only had 130,000km on it.

Had a 72 2 wheel drive Blazer, with a 307. Bought it, and then realized I`d never have the time to rebuild and sold it. I`d rather drop 20000 into an old ride then the new stuff. The new stuff is ok, but the older stuff has character.

i had a 79 blazer, full time 4x4, 350/350, rear limited. got rid of it as a parts truck, no sheet metal left. i am looking for another full timer though, preferably in the 70's, but the wife says i have to many trucks. i really miss that blazer, went through more than my other trucks, and cheap to maintain. i like the paint scheme on this one, don't think i've seen that one before today.

My project is a 91 Jimmy, last year they made the big guys. It's got the 350 on propane which I'm changing back to gas, just finished finding all the gas parts. Two inch lift kit is on the bench that will get me up to a 34" BFG, then its just new exhaust and the paint job. Can't wait.

Default blazer body work

I just bought a 1989 K5 what an awesome truck everything is done trans, transfer case, diffs, brakes, shocks, springs, drive shafts all ujoints all I need is to replace 350TBI with a carbed one ... now is there anyone out there that would trade some body work for some parts I have to trade

1) brand new cam and lifter set for a BBC really lumpy never used
2) chrome timing cover BBC
3) 350 turbo trans
4) 2500 stall

Did some of the welding myself then had Calgary Collision Coachworks Inc finish it off. Goes back in next week for final polish.
