http://www.kingsoutdoorworld.com/fea...tts-buck.shtml

wow, this is one big buck I. Apparantly there is a native from Pincher Creek who has managed to harvest 2 muleys that score over 200", not during regular hunting season although, one of this guys rams scores in the top three taken from WMU 400 since 1984, Geesh some guys make it look easy, a couple days hunting after season closes and look what you get.

Just because a guy shot a huge deer and is native does not mean he shot it after season. I read the article and could not see anywhere where it states it was after the reg season close.

Just from info on hand it appears that the last three biggest rams taken in WMU 400 were under subsistence rights, all taken along roads plowed by Shell Canada, since 1981 no resident hunter has harvested a 180 ram ( i've seen some reported to score as much as 185 only to find officially they barely broke 170) only subsistence hunters have harvested 180 class rams while the sheep are on winter range a short hike from the truck and this has absolutely nothing to do with 40 inch wide muleys or muleys that score over 200".

SRD doesnt seem too 'hush hush' about it.....if you want info on any court case in Alberta it is quite easy to find right here....you can just do a search for different keywords, etc.

Ya didnt ruffle my tailfeathers.....but lumping in a native hunter who shot a big buck with other sustinence hunters is a bit ignorant as you dont know the whole story. This is just another hunter.....nowhere does he say its sustinence hunting or anything related. Its a hunter's story. I was only pointing out that the two topics had nothing to do with eachother....

Default Wonder if all records show up on that link

I was told this went to court last November and a hefty $150 dollar fine was imposed, half the sum was paid and the ram(S) returned. Trying to get info from SRD is like pulling teeth with a screw driver, slow and painful.

I know the deer and the guy that shot it... it was shot one week after the season closed in wmu 108 and was shot on land he did not have promission to hunt on, but the land owner that he did have promission to hunt on sweet talked the land owner where the buck was shot to not press any charges....
Plus whats up with having two white guy guiding him.... i talked to F/W about this deer for several hours and they refused to do anything about it becouse he was native...
That is a crock of -------

No doubt it's a great buck you can't take that away from the animal. If elkhunter1234 is correct and I have no reason not to believe him, then there is not much good to be said about the "accomplishment" of taking this deer.

Again with elkhunters version of the hunt why did it not mention in the article that the deer was taken after season but under his treaty rights to hunt? It is legal so why the omission???

I wonder if this is the same Robert with a 184 ram (taken around 1984) entered in the Alberta Records book from WMU 400.

Can animals taken after regular hunting season be entered in the record books?

Anyone have any information on who's killing all the rams in WMU 400 and just removing their heads and cape and just leaving the ewes to rot?
I think most of us already know the answer to that one (headless rams) - but now days you have to be careful what you say in public.
