Default Two Jack Lake/Lake Minnewanka

I am camping in Two Jack in middle of August. I believe one can take regular power boats in that lake.

Anything I should be aware of, or any words of wisdom from the experienced folks at Outdoorsmen Forum.

Thanks in advance.

When the winds come up on minnewanka get off the lake. It happens fast too. Minnewanka is deep except at the far end where there's a narrow opening to another section. It can be 4-5 feet. Fish can be into 200feet. Jigging with spoons or cold lake specials work. Also down rigging. Don't expect to catch. I don't believe powerboats are allowed on two jack.

The only lake in the park you can run a power boat is Minnewanka and you should have a copy that your boat went through one of the inspection stations in case the wardens come asking which they tend to do fair often lately.

Agreed with the wind and wave warning. The way the mountains are oriented (like a funnel) makes that lake treacherous in bad weather. I've been on that lake in a 24' cabin cruiser and we were tossed around taking waves over the top and white knuckling it into some cover. I have fished many huge lakes, Reindeer, Athapap, Cold but minnewanka is something else. Just crazy waves. Be careful if the weather turns and run in and get off the lake.

Send me a message I live in Banff and would join you for a day of fishing. Only electric motor on two jack. Minewanka is tough lake but the Lakers are nice size when you find them
