22 cleaning rod don't fit but you can get .17 ones from any good gun place

Yup, you need the 17 hmr cleaning kit and you'll have to cut your patches small to get them through your barrel. Be careful not to force the push rod too much or you'll be running out to buy a new one. They are very thin and even a little force will break the threaded portion off. Trust me......I know all about it.

I use a Dewey .17 rod , a Sinclair rod guide, and commercial precut patches that work just fine. With the right tools , the 17s are easy to clean.

Too bad about the snow, it was good shooting conditions here this morning.

I tried a friend's a Tipton 17 cleaning rod this morning. I am thinking that other than the huge handle diameter which requires the rod to bend to clear the comb on the stock, it is a very nice product. I am still not 100% sure as to the abrasiveness of carbon fiber, but I may try a Tipton, as the coating on my Dewey 17 rod is wearing thin in spots. However, if I buy a Tipton, the handle diameter will be ground down a bit to clear the combs on my rifle stocks.
