Default Well wishes for hunter mauled by grizzly

Hey guys, could we offer some well wishes to this poor guy and his family to help offset the negative comments being published on CTV.ca

http://bc.ctvnews.ca/from-hunter-to-...bear-1.1478471

in fact I missed that he is actually in the UofA at the moment, I would be happy and willing to bring him a card or contribute to such an endeavor by outdoorsmenforum

Good to see all the liberal commenters in fine form. Cheering the mauling of a person. What the hell is wrong with people? How twisted do you have to be to rejoice at the mauling of someone out pursuing a perfectly legal and honourable tradition?

Classy...sipping their mocha-chinos out of a disposible cup from the middle of a city somewhere.
Only imaging the circumstance and having never walked the walk themselves.

I hope the old fellla does OK.... he must be tough...he self rescued.

I know of another chap that did the same thing about 30 years ago in the EK... knifed the bear in the neck..it later was found dead.
Then..with a broken leg he crawled miles back to his truck.

58 years old IIRC.

A buddy actually knew him...said the old boy was one of the hardest men he'd ever met.
Whatever...both guys have to have heart to get through that at that age.

I think i remember that story too. Maybe it was on the Bull River. I don't think it was much of a knife either.

As far as the stupid comments go, well there's lots of stupid people in the world. These have no clue.

I would say that for these people their brain is very close to be running on empty. What a bunch of idiots with no morals.

Prayers sent for the old man.

x2 it really makes me worried that there are people out there who don't have a clue about the morality of hunting, especially if THEY EAT MEAT.

Amazing how many people put the life of an animal on par with that of a person

Much different story if it was their grandfather out for a day of hiking or fishing I'm sure.

The comments on there are rather disgraceful!! I have added my own but there are so many sheltered people in the country.

Accidents happen and bear encounters happen too. Everyone here knows that and assumes that risk on when you leave home. Odds are slim that you have an encounter but it does happen.

Good luck to the hunter is his recovery, glad it wasn't worse. Get well sir!

Sipping tea in a sweater vest stroking their beard speaking of the monstrosity of it all. "Yes quite"

Ed was out elk hunting and run into a grizzly... I have been in the same area many times and there are many grizzlies there because of the elk.

I cannot belive how people think that a grizzly trumps human life....

We live ina twisted suzukified world

I always cheer when some self righteous granola eater get's et by a bear. Bears prefer them over others.

Default cougars too!

Don't forget the cougars prefer young female cross country skiers too. Like the one in Banff a few years ago, but she did not get away.

Could havebeen the Bull River.... I'm not sure anymore.
It was a bad year...a couple deaths near Invermere just prior to that.
1988 or 89 I think.
Was also the year that the cougar quota was met before the season even opened.

Wouldn't eating a granola cruncher cause the bear to choke and puke

All kidding aside, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. I tried to comment but it wouldn't let me.

Granola's healthy. Bear's need fibre.

I'll bet that bear learned his lesson. That old timer was likely too tough, Smokey probably broke a tooth. Hopefully next time he will catch a nice succulent urbanite wrapped in natural fibres and stuffed with smug.

All kidding aside I hope he has a speedy recovery and the comments made by some of those creeps got me pretty ticked.

Hey, that makes 3 of us born in the dispicable disco days. Glad that I missed it being a baby and all. Anyhow, best wishes for a speedy recovery and many more hunting years to that fellow.

You dropped a digit there...

Actually now that I think of it... might have been a lot later...
I left the SSF in CFB Petawawa in 94 and moved to Calgary.
I hunted that fall and the incident was that year or the year before...or was it?

ARRRRG... life sucks when you can hide your own Easter Eggs.

I'm gonna have to phone a friend and get that sorted out.
I'd call my Dad but the fact that his memory at his age is better than mine when it comes to some things... brings him no end of joy...at my expense.

By the Grace of God go I...

I spent much of my youth following large Pradators around... Not Hunting mind you, simply interested in them. May this fine Gentleman get well soon! I am certain he shall.

The antis are fit to burn and are fundamentally ill... I shall prey for them.

P.S. ~ That site the article to which the original post of this thread contains a link is an abberation. I would not waste an iota of myself attempting to post a comment there. I save it for worthy resources such as Alberta Outdoorsmen Forum. Just like how I spend my money on Alberta Outdoorsmen Magazine, not some evil, childish clown rag like... well, where I come from there is but one way to truly disrespect someone/thing - Deny its existence.

Some of the folks posting here should be ashamed of themselves. Not that it matters...the bear could have attacked anyone but hunting is a legitimate pass time and a way of life for many people. It is certainly a far more ethical way to get your daily bread than many rely upon....at least it is honest and up front. I cannot fault the bear for its nature but... the nature of some "humans" who posted here is certainly not above question. The man was attacked and injured. A human being of worth with family, friends and all the same feeling any of us have. I hope the old fella recovers well and fully. He must be a hard man to weather that... someone to be admired...not mocked by lesser men. I wonder how those same people would react if a bunch of hunters began to gloat if they choked on their granolla.
