Default the well ran dry

The city of cape town in serious trouble, makes you stop and think for a moment of our water supply, and what we take for granted and abuse.

Saw that, can you imagine? Time for a massive desalinization effort.

There are electronic billboards around the city with the water availability displayed. Funny thing is 10 feet above sea-level the humidity is 34%. Amazingly dry, something to do with the trade winds.

The lack of rain does play a huge part in this crises, but mismanagement contributed a lot. The Western Cape is provincially governed by the opposition Democratic Alliance, who is a thorn in the side of the national ANC government. The national government have been withholding funds for infrastructure upgrades to make the DA look bad and to swing votes. The DA has its own power struggles within as well as corrupt administration. A lot of water gets "lost". It either runs down the street from broken pipes that doesn't get fixed, or there are illegal connections to the line causing loss of revenue.
It's a mess.

Our water in Alberta comes from glacier/snowfall in mountains. Some power dams like Big Horn are designed to store water so we in Edmonton and Calgary on Bow are quite well favored over other areas of world. However some water conservation is always wise, we do not need 20 minute showers, water treatment costs $$$.
