Default edmonton ice (Star, Chicakoo)

Does anyone know if there are any trout lakes around edmonton that the ice is far enough out to make it worth the drive to wet a line? Any info would save me a drive and disappointment.

Thanks

Looks like you'll be the first. Let us know after you check. Just kidding I'll ask around but most guys seem to wait until May.

I stopped by Morinville pond yesterday and there was plenty of open watter to cast your line in. In fact there was a guy fishing when I circled around the lake.

Star lake always seems to be one of the last lakes to lose the ice.

Checked chikakoo and sauer out Sunday, sauer is completly ice free, while chikakoo still has some ice in the middle, but is fishable. Did see few guys fishing there but by the time I left nothing was landed.

Didn't make to spring and star but I guess they are pretty similar, should be ok for cast.

Heard chicakoo winter killed bad...probably why they didnt land anything. Might as well fish the bathtub...hopefully someone will prove this otherwise..
