Default Calgary Local Started! YAY!

Hey everyone!

So sorry to flood the forum with "Calgary Local" posts the last little while.
I am really pleased to announce that (aside from the paperwork) The Calgary Local has officially started back up. We had a really great meeting Thursday night (Despite the snow) and managed to get a President, A secretary treasurer, and two directors lined up. Thanks so much to everyone that braved the storm! I know there are a few people still very interested that couldn't make it. Please PM me with your contact info and I will add you to our list.
We will be having another meeting in December, which I will post on the forum and contact everyone about, where there will be some demos/talks etc. We will be printing off posters to get the word out, as well as contacting other outdoor clubs etc. to pull in some folks. If you have any ideas about spreading the word or anything else concerning this local, please share them with me! We could use a couple more directors, and I can always use advice and ideas. Looking forward to seeing more people out at the next meeting!

Emily

Nice work. We voted to join as a local at our AGM, and submitted our resolution several weeks ago but have yet to hear from the ATA executive.
We re-elected the same crew. Who is on your executive?

Default Good News

Great to see 2 locals forming up in southern Alberta. There certainly was a need for one in the Calgary area as well. The one spot there really needs a local (there has been some talk of one... right Greg?)........................IS RED DEER!

Although I will stay commited to the D Valley local - I certainly would attend / help out if a new local fired up in central AB.

What do you mean when you say "Demo" at the December Calgary meeting?

I have never trapped, But am interested to get involved in the near future.

What do these meeting entail and would it be a good experience for me to attend?

Hey Molly!

Our people are as follows= Emily Lamb-President, Scott Cuthbert= Secretary/treasurer, Glen Robinson= Director, Carly Blashyn= Director and a few other people have emailed in interested in director positions as well. I think we have a great group to start and can't wait to get more people interested.

Mutter, at every meeting we are going to try and get either a speaker out to talk about trapping techniques, experiences, and interesting topics, or someone to do a demo on say; Snare making, skinning, etc.
In any case, I don't think you can go wrong attending a trapping meeting anywhere, I guarantee you will know more going out than coming in, and you may just meet someone willing to help you get started!
Message me your email if your interested in being contacted about the next meeting.
