Swarovski & Leica

Guys,
I'm looking for the best available price on two peices of optical kit.

1) Leica Rangemaster (LRF 1200)

2) Swarovski High Definition Spotting scope w/ straight eye peice
(STS 65 HD 20-65 X 65)

Check out Cabelas Bargain Cave, the 1200 Leica is on sale for $499 (us bucks of course.) Do you really need the long range Leica, what about the 900 or 700 ??

I agree with Elnino,i have the 1200 and it is a great rangefinder but if you want to save money buy the 900.
You will never range anything out at 1200 yards anyways.
I don't know if i have ever ranged anything past a 1000 as it would have to be as big as a barn to pick it up.

Sorry guys ment to say CRF. In any case, the 1200 is important to me because it will likely only range out to 8-900 yards under field conditions. In the case where you range an animal at 8-900 yards it gives you an idea that you need to close the gap by at least half.

Thomas you are right in wanting the 1200. It is more acurate that way and will help in geting a better reading for your target. I buy all my optics from a website called Optic Zone. Do a web search and you should find it. I just bought a zeiss 4.5-14x50mm for $589 U.S They aare the best price around from my searching. Don't buy Canadian, It costs too much.

i have acquired deer out to 800 with repeated ease, I have hit things like road signs and other highly reflective things at over 1250 yards. the biggest problem is trying to hold it steady enough to hit.
plus the buttons seem to be so hard to push, especially when its below 0

If your not in a hurry keep snooping around the net,classified forums,etc I purchased a STS 65 20-60 last fall, used on one Elk trip,came with Swarovski case,20-60,pin,warranty card,got it TMD for under $1,500cnd Awesome scope.

If you need binos I just bought the 10x42 BRF Leica which is the 1300 yard rangefinder and the binos in one. Pricey but I wish I had them a long time ago. sometimes when you are looking with the binos you don't have time to grab the rangefinder. This way I just push the button when looking and get a read out.

how did you buy that scope through the US. I've been told by many optic shops they won't ship to Canada

Varmitr....you are corect it will pick up things like sign's but very hard if not impossible to ranng animals out that far.

I'd talk to Doug at Cameraland in New York. He can be found at the 24hourcampfire and has some awesome prices on higher quality items and the best service in the industry....

You can bring scopes across the border. The problem is that the people selling them may get into trouble if they do this. For most of the stores they won't take the chance but if you bought it from e-bay I have never heard of anyone having trouble and have many friends that have done it. Canada customs is not the problem. It is the U.S that has a problem with it. My sister lives in Ca and she brings stuff up for me or mails it once in a while. RACKMASTER is the best to ask the questions to about this kind of stuff.
