Default URGENT: Trust fund for TheRealMcCoy

Folks
Just had a note from Gerry (TheRealMcCoy).
He has shared his story on here.

He is in rough shape, has cancer, needs to go to the hospital, and is pretty much out of funds.
He asked me to set up a trust fund for him.
I bank at CIBC and I imagine I could set up a Trust Fund for him there.
I know there are other ways to do this, with on-line crowd funding, and other approaches. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
I am happy to head this up, would sure appreciate some ideas on how to best do this.
Need to get this started right away. Let me know if you have ideas.
iI you prefer to discuss on the phone, PM me your phone number and I will call to discuss
Gerry is a good fellow in a really bad way. I sure hope that as a group we can reach out and help him.

thanks in advance
John

I have helped out friends before through the go fund me site. Very easy to use and he might get help from strangers there as well. Could be advertised on this site, with a link to the go fund me site. Just might need the odd bump on this site.

Since you are involved, the other thing I would suggest is to get the two of you to talk to a social worker of the province. Make sure he is getting all the help he is entitled to. Went through something similar with my Dad, lots of stuff available that I had no idea about till I asked. They sent a social worker to talk to me and we went through all his expenses and drug costs. He finally got some help and a decent yearly allotment.

Really appreciate the great advice
Already had some offers to help; just another reminder of the fine folks on this site!
I will check out the Go Fund me site.
Someone suggested that they might donate a rifle or scope and auction if off on AOF to the highest bidder, with proceeds going to Gerry. Yet another good idea!

Thanks again. More good ideas are always welcome! Keep them coming.

John

I'm understanding this and I've replied when no one else did on a previous thread for help he posted. The least that I can do is care.

A thread about a noisy generator got five pages of feedback and a person dying of cancer gets a couple replies. What the he'll is wrong with this world
