Default Good spots in or near Calgary

So I live in Calgary and work just outside city limits. I usually fish in farther places out of town like pine Cooley and slave lake up north and I'll spend a weekend or a week out there. I'm wondering if there are any good spots closer to the city or in the city that I could go to and spend an hour or two at after work.

I've heard of people fishing the bow but never tried it myself and suggestions on bait or lures?

Most of the bow has a bait ban, I find throwing smaller spoons or spinners is usually best.
The bow can be difficult at times, best of luck.

What about Lake Chestermere?

Has anybody been up there recently to check it out?

It's only good for flyfishing. Spin fishing doesn't work.

I dunno: I seen a couple of guys have a lot of success catching rainbows in those currents that run through the little islands and the 'shore'.

They were using just a normal spin reel and those Spinners- I was crazy jealous.

All I've ever caught using spinners on the bow was rocks and brown muck.

Hey Spaghetts,

I was not being sincere. There are quality fish everywhere in the Bow in town that can be taken readily on spin gear.

Yep but id suggest minnow plugs ,storm&rapala and the like. Diveing depth of 4-10' is best. I run 30lb fluro leader as the odd pike can be found
