Question Truck Tent ?'s

Anybody ever use or seen these truck tents they have that set-up in the back of a pick-up?

Ones like the Napier Sportz camo or other models?

Saw some without a floor in the tent, but these with the floor seem like it might be drier, warmer, cleaner.

Can they be used along with a roll-up tonneau cover(which takes up a foot? of room at the front)?

Think it's enough tent to get thru November with?
A night or two out during hunting season?

Easy to set up(in the dark)?

Thanks for your info.

Default Truck tent

I have a truck tent. it is AWESOME. I am not sure about the box cover though. not the easiest to set up, but simple enough after a few times using it. One word of advice, cut some felt strips to run under the tie-down straps. It will really save the clear-coat/paint on the side of your truck. If it would suit your needs, I highly reccomend!!!!

Default Price range

The prices of the Napier ones with the floor depend on the model, and your truck, and so on, but direct from ~$150-$350.
Locally in Calgary the truck accessory places catalog them at $450+, for the camo model.
So, I'm not 100% on what I can finally get one for, but ~$300+ I'm hoping.

The ones without the floor from other makers run about $100-$200, less than half the floored models(online).

I have one that I used last week, it fits right into my dodge 1500 and I have a roll tonneau cover on, the aluminium one. It works awesome. lots of space and being off the ground is really nice. it started raining overnight and I stayed bonedry.
also I put a little step on the ground for easier access, that was good too.

and they have a vestibule that is pretty big, I could fit my mountain bike under it.

the rollcover is actually a bonus, the casing makes a little ledge that is ideal to put down drinks, cans, books, flashlight etc.

recommendation: get one if you think you will use it.

I believe if you want to go look at them, there is a place called something like "auto/truck camper tents" on 3rd st se, about a block and 1/2 south of 58th ave se on the west side of 3rd st. I've seen their advertising or a display at one time or another around Calgary at Sportsman's show or something like that.

Thanks for all the positive info!

I'll definately try to see if I can see one set-up, but I'm sure leaning towards getting one right now.

Now to find the deal.
