So much for making life more affordable for Albertans. I wonder what the compelling reason for the big fee hikes is…

Elk season in 516?? Been hunting that zone for over 20 years, I have a better chance of seeing a Cariboo, which until a winter quad ride this year, never have(and I have been over most of this zone in one way or another). Seems like a money grab for the ones who think I got a moose tag, I will buy a elk tag too, just incase.

I doubt enough have moved into the most southern part of the zone from wmu 509 to warrant tags now but that's a head scratcher to me.

Definitely a few major changes,

Reduced Suffield Hunts went from 6 hunts down to 3 interesting to see how many tags get issued.

Mountain Goat nice to see this draw come back but really do we need a Minister tag just another Cash Grab!

Tag Prices some major price jumps, it will definitely deter people from buying all available tags for a hunts. Turkey tag from 29.95 to 60.00 let alone the 15 years to maybe draw the tag.

The $5 application fee will still have many people applying for all tags they can, and some of them didn't buy all the tags that they drew at the old prices.

I would rather see increased fees, How many people will draw for the Goat tags with little to no knowledge of what it takes to get a Goat let alone identifying a Billy.

Should be mandatory to pass a Billy identification test before applying for the goat tag, there’s a large portion of the applicant base that has no business applying for those tags (before anyone flames me ask yourself how many hunters you bump into, know or know of that have the time, skills, and health to invest in a tag like that.)

I think they should make it $5 per applicant per application. The fact that 4 people can gain a priority point for the price of 1 group application still blows my mind.

It’s too cheap not to apply for everything if you are doing group applications.

It is mandatory after you draw the tag, they send you a email and you must meet with fish and wildlife where they go through proper identification and then you write a test. At least it was in 2013 when I drew the tag

That’s great to hear! Never drawn the tag or known anyone who has, appreciate the insight!

I do understand what you are trying to get at, but the insinuation that having more financial backing and therefore ability to pay higher fees, automatically makes you a better hunter (in the ability to identify game) is laughable at best.

I wouldn't call a 50% increase to an elk tag 'marginal'.
Nor 34% on a moose tag.

Perspective.

How will our Wildlife or wildlife department benefit from the increased revenue?
Asking specifically.

If you charge people for every tag they draw, before they can enter any draws again, it would deter some people from applying for every tag.

That's because you have this strange belief that charging more will reduce YOUR wait times on draws.

The unfortunate reality is that draw wait times will not change, the extra funds will go into General Revenue as always, the state of our fish and wildlife will remain abysmal, and we'll have less money in our pocket.

Yes! Just like it was 30 years ago.
Get drawn, automatically charged.

Not with a $25 increase.

So I'll ask again, how will the extra funds directly benefit our wildlife or wildlife department?

Sucks that they made Suffield January only. It’s pretty damn cold down there that time of year. Would’ve preferred they kept the November seasons instead.
