Im not saying trilene XL is a bad line but recently I have realized that it tends to snap at the knot. (Under 8Lb) However higher pound test is super strong. When I fish for trout on the Bow I use 6 -8 Vanish (Monofilament coated with fluorocarbon) Its is strong, it has a smaller refraction index so it is less visible under the water and it has less stretch in it which makes it more sensitive and easier to set the hook with...Awesome line . If you want to step up from that you could try Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon but I think it is a waste of money.
Whenever I fish for pike I use braided line. It casts very far, it is strong and has very little strech in it. A little pricy but you can't go wrong with 8 - 20 pound Power Pro.
I hope this helps

stick with it. its been my go to mono since i started using it many years back. don't try to fix what's not broken. how many reels do you have to do? i have plenty of bulk spools in 6 & 8 pound. i'd be happy to spool a reel or two for you if interested.

5lb green Power Pro with a 4lb flouro leader. Works the best every time. You'll be able to cast really far as well.

Im sick of using mono and fluro lines that stretch and have high line memory. This year i'm going with 5lb power pro (high-vis yellow) with a 6lb test 4'-5' flurocarbon leader. Hoping to nail the trout with this setup! Im hoping to be able to get nice, long casts and solid hook sets with the reduced stretch.
I'll let you know how it works out in practice If you don't want to go this route, I find flurocarbon to be much better than mono, but i dislike both

Always use it for trout, 4 or 6lb. Great line for the price.

I find after 2 years it turns white and it gets rotten,,,that's my experience ,plus it was wearing out the eyelets on my fishing rod

On my trout rod I am using 4lb trylene this year and I LOVE it! I used spiderwire and thicker trylene in the past and they worked well but nothing like this IMO. I'll never change (unless the Geeks take me out on Deif hahaha).Great casting, fun fishing, reliable line.
My 2 sense.
Cheers.
