Default Can any one tell me if my load looks good 6.5x55 se

Disclaimer. This is my load for my rifle. I take no responsibility if you shoot this load in your rifle.
If I'm not allowed to post load data please delete.

Caliber- 6.5x55 se/swiss/mauser.
Brass- Sellier&Bellot
Bullet- Speer grand slam .264 140 grain
Primer- Winchester LR match
Powder- H-Varget 34 grains
Coal- 3.007
Crimp- Factory
Rifle- Zastiva LK M70 18inch Barrel

If any one knows roughly what my fps would be and energy that would be fabulous. Would be useing for hunting, ranges of 50 yards to max 300 yards.
Also does this load seem safe. Probably should have started with that.
Only powders I have are varget and imr 4064
And 140 grain bullets.
Thank you for any input and advice.

Thanks Dean I checked it out.
Went out and shot this load. Groups nicely can keep all 5 shots in the red at 100. Raised point of impact 1 1/2 inches and called it hunting ready and good for the day.
Has a bit less recoil then my norma oryx factory rounds but groups better and I'll take tighter groups any day.
Should definitely be good for deer. Quessing moose if I do my part and I keep my range good.
Those speer grand slams ok for moose ?

Default loads

I guess if you want to use the powder you have but RE#22 + IMR 4350 will both give better accuracy and speed. What size groups are in the red? Norma factory used N204 modernized today to RE19 with their 139-140gr.

Could cover with a toonie.
Yes I saw r22 as a main for reloading that one.
When I save up I'll look at the r19.
I'm generally not punching paper with my hunting rifle it's just for hunting and I'm happy even with 2 inch groups. I used reload for my 45-70 , 7.62x54r, .303 and varget and imr 4064 were my go to for those but since I'll probably only ever own just this one rifle now, ill definitely look into r22 and r19 My .22 on the other hand is my paper puncher/gopher killer. Savage mark ii fv-sr .22.
Thank you for the info.

I wouldn’t develop any loads with Alliant powders unless you have a good supply since it’s unobtainium.

Default Seeing this isn't the first powder shortage

Why don't people learn and stock up? Same goes for all components.

Exactly it was like 3 lean spells back I said I’m done with Alliant powder, and Federal primers……. Every time a cold breeze blows down south those 2 brands of components dry up first.

I found Hodgdon in bulk and got it shipped on the cheap when I ordered 21 pounds or more.
The same outfit would ship CCI primers on the same carrier in the same shipment as the powder, and by the 5000 too.

But that don’t help the new guys ya know, we all start someplace…. Or are you too old to remember that?

OP if it shoots well in your rifle…. You have your answer.

My go to 6.5x55 powder was R22, when I decided to test with it, I could buy it locally, so I bought another 5lbs. When I sold my last 6.5x55, a good friend got the R22. He likely has 10-12 lbs left.

People buy their first gun, buy new guns, and/or get into reloading. Not everyone has the same stuff from before every federal election.

Though I agree, I wouldn’t develop a load with less than 3 lbs of powder and 300 primers/bullets on hand. Pretty good chance whatever you are using will be the next unobtainium.

3lbs for 6.5 x55 will get you 500 rounds ,so the question is how much do you shot per year ,score a bit of rl 22 if it pops up for just hunting and use other powders like the stuff you have for target practice .Bit slower loads just means a bit lower . There's good powders in IMR that may shot well in your rifle .

If what you got shots good groups ,try at 100 dead on, then 200 then 300 ,mark your exact drop at 200 and 300 ,look in most loading books and cross check the velocity with drop. Do the same with your hunting ammo, just double check your poi out to 300 or more. Your fps will tell you by inches dropped ,close might not be perfect .as long as it hits good at100 to 300 you know where your at.

Then sight in at 200 dead on ,your now good pretty well to go ,just double check at 300 dead on at 200.

I did this for 2 decades out to 400 and it worked great .The 6.5 x55 with a good load can kill easily at 400.My wife shot a few moose with a 6.5 x55 se ,I shot the same when hunting with her . No mix up in bullets this way .
