Default How to Upgrade Your Computer?

Just wondering if any members know a good shop or have a IT savvy buddy who i can bring my laptop to, to be upgraded? I have a Sony Vaio laptop that needs an upgrade (I think). I keep getting messages when I go to google or You Tube saying the kind of software? I'm using will not be suppoerted much longer. I have no idea what needs to be done or even if I can afford it. Please PM me if you don't want to give advise on open forum. Thanks. I guess bassically my lap top needs a tune up.

I get the same thing. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this notice from the screen without spending the 50ish bucks that it says I need to spend to upgrade my system?

Sounds like an old browser, install google chrome or mozilla Firefox. How old is the laptop? perhaps a fresh install or a new SSD Harddrive will wake that unit up.

Actually, with out seeing the computer itself or seeing screen shots, it's impossible for anyone to really answer the questions.

It is possible you have spyware / malware infection. But, it is also possible that you are running a older web browser, and or a older version of Windows.

Part of your issue could also be that the windows 10 update is wanting to install.

Then again, it could be something else entirely.

This is actually very poor advise, but only because it comes with no warnings.

If you have things you need saved or don't want to lose, then make sure to back them up to an external hard drive or flash drive. Note: programs cannot be saved, so make sure you have the software to reinstall it after doing a wipe and reload.

Mine says the same, old windows XP has stopped being supported and now chrome is saying it wont be supported soon.

I may need to upgrade the old desk top too

What does your calendar say in the corner. I had that problem but the date on my calendar was 2002. changed the date and that fixed my browser.

Need to post some specs of your laptop.

Is there a model number on the computer? Should be on the underside - or sometimes you have to remove the battery to find a sticker.

What version of windows?

Are you referring to windows wanting you to upgrade to Windows 8.1 or 10? There are pop ups for that, and its not a virus. You dont have to upgrade if you dont want. If you have W 8.0 then support is ending soon or has already, and you should upgrade to windows 8.1 or 10.

A screen shot of the message or an exact quote would be helpful.

I don't think it's been suggested yet, but point yourself to the windows update site and check for updates. You may not have this feature activated to automatically check. you might find a few things there.
As well, run a free version of Malware-Bytes (recommend buying the program).
You never indicated what windows version you are running, this also may have something to do with it.
I read too that with windows 10 being out, that "internet explorer" is well into it's last legs and won't be updated/supported soon.

one day our computers will automatically update through "windows update" and BAM ! we will all be Windows 10

In the alert you are getting that XP and chrome won't be supported soon I get it too. There is a link right in the message that says "learn more". I suggest you open it and read up.

Time for a system upgrade. I guess a computer is sort of like a vehicle. After 7 or 8 years using one you want to upgrade it. Microsoft and all the internet sources have to create revenue streams.
