Default learn something new every day

went out to PCR last night for some ling and decided to try a new spot that a haven't tried before. started really slow until the sun was just about down like always then the bite picked up. I was using my depth finder and while jigging on bottom i saw something suspended about 15 feet off bottom. I brought my jig up and convinced what i thought to be a pike to hit and the fight was on. i knew it was big and once i got it to the hole it turned out to be a huge ling 31inches and over 7 lbs biggest i have ever caught from there by a long shot. I have never seen them suspended like that before i always fish for them right on bottom. Has anyone else seen this behaviour from them before?

Awesome catch! Did you have a scale? I only ever have a measuring tape and am getting more curious about their weights.

I think every burb Ive ever caught has been within 24" of the bottom.
