Default Jb weld difference between cure and set?

I'm making a machete handle. I glued 2 blocks of wood to the tang with jb weld. I've got the handle shape drawn on the wood. It says the glue sets in 6 hours and cures In 15 hours. When can I start cutting the wood. When it sets or when it cures, what's the difference?

When it cures. Sets just means that it will be dry enough to not be tacky, but not dry enough to hold reliably.

For optimum strength I would wait for it to cure.

I am using JB weld right now, locking the jaw joint on a bear skull

I will let it set 2 days.

Last time 2 days and no issues

if you have a trouble light I would set that by it so the radiant heat cures the JB and makes it ultra hard. this stuff works great I held the diamond drive outta my sled together with it last season when we were ridding in golden! Worked great
