Shannon Phillips Resigning
https://globalnews.ca/news/10557059/...llips-resigns/
Shannon Phillips resigning. I am very happy with the outcome, but it is a shame that she was the target of corrupt police officers. Maybe Nenshi will take her place? Online speculation.

Good that she is gone.
Divisive, teller of untruths, manipulative, arrogant. Not going to miss her in the least.

She stayed long enough to get a gold plated pension and will now go work as a lobbyist and pull a second income. She's also likely to receive a healthy payout from the City of Lethbridge, so I can understand why she would not want to take anymore public scrutiny. It also could be that the party leaned on her to give up an almost guaranteed NDP seat to the new party leader.
What did the Lethbridge police actually do to her?

She was surveilled by 2 police officers who were upset about her closing the ATV trails at Castle. The AB police watchdog recommended charges. I don't think it is possible to dislike her more than I do, but having rogue police officers using police resources due to a personal vendetta is not the way to go after someone. I don't think it caused much harm in any way, but not me and my family. I wouldn't want it to happen to myself, anyways.

Good riddance. She is not old, more than likely she will resurface with another special interest group.

Dylan15, not sure if you remember she had a man charged with issuing threat. Ruined his business career and withdrew the charges. The person charged claimed he did nothing wrong. So she got away with one and the two officers did not.
Not saying what the police did was right - just pointing to the double standard with her.

I agree, separate standards. Just would rather have the police force remain on the sideline both ways. Maybe too much to expect

Great news. I also suspect she may be opening a seat for a future leader.

Philips lowered the hunting licenses for seniors when she was the Minister.
No gold plated pension for retiring AB MLA's. They get a one time payout.

She also banned many forms of hunting and restricted hunting opportunities.

If I remember correctly they were talking about this on the radio that guy spent a fortune getting ready for court over a long period of time and then just before it finally went to court she dropped all the charges. Dirty trick

Because they are like these chimps who protest in Canada on behalf of a st-hole country ....they never risk anything....protesting in Canada is likely the most pussified thing you can do, ....its meaningless
Is the Canadian military gonna crack down on them like they would in Nigeria or Congo....nope
But they should. Problem is, they have infected the Canadian military too....and the police....

THOSE protesters won't get cracked down on.... OTHERS might. Think a couple are still in jail for the crime of being far, far right, extreme alt right. And of course extremist alt right carbon mischief.
Military to be given police power was anounced not too long ago. And almost in tandem with increased military spending. $h1t hawks are circling Randy Bobandy, and the $h1t clock's a tickin'! Don't think it bodes well for future anti overreach protests!
Yep no immediate risk for them ushering in a 3rd world country plan. Just wish they'd put their money where their mouth is and go to where it's prebuilt for em'!

Shannon Phillips along with the Lethbridge City Council brought in the so called safe injection site turning the city into Open Drug Using Destination. The EMS, Police, and Hospital were over run with Overdoses and Death. Maybe the Lethbridge City Police had a very good reason to look at the politicians that have allowed this tyranny to happen. Lethbridge is a far different city now.

Yep, was ridiculous. My wife won't even go to the mall with kids anymore. My cousin had someone break into her car at work a block away, and use fentanyl in the back seat next to her kids carseats. Car was a write off with the residue and mess they made.
All I am saying, is I wouldn't want rogue police officers surveilling me with police resources, with no official order or probable cause. Still should be a free society, regardless of what side of the political spectrum someone is.
She set Lethbridge and south-west AB back irreparably in so many ways. Glad she is gone.
