Default 10/22 barrel??

I just bought a ruger 10/22, and I'm thinking I should throw a heavy barrel on it. Any ideas on a good one to buy at a decent price? Also anywhere around red deer that is a good place to buy aftermarket 10/22 parts?
Cheers, curt

Most stores carry the standard heavy barrels for them, however for real fancy ones you want to take a look at Gander Mtn online!

If you want the best, check out Tony Kidd barrels. They're not the cheapest.

I bought mine from them. Decent price, fast shipping. I haven't had a chance to give it a test yet though.

The Dlask barrels are a good deal too, and come highly recommended. I would have bought one if they had them in stainless. Only blued.

Last time I was researching Rimfirecentral (or something like that), there were a few guys taking stock 10/22 barrels and polishing the bore. The accuracy of these reworked barrels rivalled even the most expensive aftermarket barrels. IIRC, there was someone in Vancouver offering this service for a nominal fee.

In the reports that I read on Rimfirecentral the chambers were also being recut, and in some cases, the muzzle was also recrowned.

Ya! I was reading that last night actually! Sounds like it could be worth trying.
